The Hillsdale News was founded in mid-2007 under the auspices of The Hillsdale Alliance, an umbrella organization of Hillsdale-area groups.

Its founding editor and publisher is Rick Seifert, who was also the founding editor of the The Hillsdale Connection, a printed monthly that became the Southwest Community Connection.

In September 2009, Rick asked for and was granted proprietorship by The Alliance.

The Hillsdale News is published on-line irregularly but generally within three-week intervals.

It serves the Hillsdale community of Southwest Portland, Oregon.
