Major items:

    • The Alliance representatives unanimously approved a resolution that the Alliance advance to C-PAH a maximum of $9,500 toward paying for lights for the “Hillsdale” sign on the new Watershed building and a cylindrical light at the top of the building’s tower. The amount lent will be paid back to the Alliance through community fund-raisers. Other funding for the lighting projects is being sought through grants and donations. HBPA has pledged $3000 in its signage account to the projects. (Two other gifts, $1000 from SW Trails and $2000 from the Farmers Market have been given to help pay for a water fountain at the new building)
                
    • The Hillsdale Alliance book sale is scheduled for Sunday, Dec 9, to be held in conjunction with the Watershed open house. The location will be the Watershed community room. Book donations will be collected in at the Farmers Market. A chili freed and “involvement festival” will be part of the events.

    • A Metro Council meeting will be held on Thursday, November 29,  at Wilson High School starting at 5:30 p.m.  A presentation subcommittee of Jim Stutts, Wes Risher, Don Baack, Jeff Dobbins, Rick Seifert and Michael Reunert.

Topics covered:

Several meetings were announced including a traffic safety meeting with PDOT officials on Tuesday, Oct 16 and a PPS district-wide “work session” at the Oregon Convention Center on Nov 6.

Rieke’s enrollment, thanks to the volunteer marketing effort, is now 323, thought to be an all-time high for the school.

A three-person delegation from Food Front, led by general manager Holly Jarvis, described how the co-op works and discussed Food Front’s interest in the old Wild Oats store, set to close Oct. 13. Holly said that a major strength of Hillsdale is its community identity and cohesiveness.

Don Baack passed on a memo based on conversations with Hillsdale attorneys John Gould and Jack Faust on how to proceed with setting up a 501 (c) (3) for a Hillsdale Community Foundation.
